The APG Creative Strategy Awards are on again in 2025. So if you’re true to the literal interpretation of ‘planner’ or indeed ‘planning’ you will already have started work on your entry.
You’ll have decided which cases are an excellent prospect, begun gathering all the necessary data and even drafted an early version.
If however, you’re a by-the-seat-of-your-pants, wild, hard, last-minute-ride kind of planner (belying all practical interpretations of the ‘planning’ thing) you’ll be getting down to it sometime in early March, tripping fearlessly and with blind optimism through to the 3rd April deadline.
Fair enough. Carry on. (And good luck, if not good planning)
But there is a middle way. And we’ve organised it for you so you don’t have to do any planning (of the practical boring kind).
Instead, you can devote your time to crafting the perfect paper.
There are 3 workshops: Logic, Magic and Sparkle. You can do 1, 2 or all 3 of them. Between them, they cover the essential ingredients of the perfect creative strategy case history delivered by the experts in writing and winning APG awards.
'Sparkle' with Kit Altin
Wednesday 30th October | 5pm-6pm GMT | Online
Kit is an APG Gold Winner, winner of the best written paper in 2023, CSO at the Gate and Chair of Shortlisters for the 2025 APG Awards.
This workshop is about the writing and the presentation of the paper. In short; memorability. It’s about how to craft the writing of your paper so that it really stands out. You’ll learn how to make your story relevant to your brand and how to pinpoint aspects of the story that make it really memorable.
'Logic' with Vicki Holgate
Thursday 31st October | 5pm-6pm GMT | Online
Vicki is a two time winner of the APG Creative Strategy Awards Grand Prix, former Chair of the APG and Strategy Partner at AMV BBDO.
In this workshop, you will learn how to plan and construct a case history. You will get help with working out whether you have a good case or not. You will understand what you need to write the case history (data, extra info, client agreement) and how to get your logic and your narrative straight so that you can make a coherent and believable story.
'Magic' with Martin Beverley
Wednesday 20th November | 4.30pm-5.30pm GMT | Online
Martin is APG Co-Chair, APG Gold winner, and CSO of adam&eveDDB.
We define ‘magic’ as the cleverness in the thinking/planning or the leap that is made. In this workshop, Martin will show you how to put a spotlight on the aspect of the creative strategy that makes all the difference to the case. With lots of examples and tips on uncovering what is special about your thinking and how to highlight it effectively.
